Kristin Dawn Chenoweth was born on July 24, 1968 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is a Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress and singer known for originating the role of Glinda in the musical Wicked, as well as her television roles on Pushing Daisies,&nbsp;The West Wing,&nbsp;and Glee.

Chenoweth studied at Broken Arrow Senior High School and attended Oklahoma City University, earning a bachelor's degree in musical theatre in 1990 and a master's degree in opera performance in 1992. During her years in education, she also performed in regional productions of iconic musicals such as&nbsp;Gypsy,&nbsp;The Sound of Music,&nbsp;Promises, Promises, and&nbsp;The King and I. After successfully auditioning for the 1993 Paper Mill Playhouse production of&nbsp;Animal Crackers, she moved to New York City.

At the beginning of her career on stage, Chenoweth performed in various regional productions (such as&nbsp;The Phantom of the Opera), and she made her Off-Broadway debut as Luisa in&nbsp;The Fantasticks&nbsp;in 1994. She followed this with two more Off-Broadway productions —&nbsp;Box Office of the Damned&nbsp;in 1994 and&nbsp;Scapin&nbsp;for Roundabout Theatre Company in 1997 —&nbsp;before making her Broadway debut in&nbsp;Steel Pier&nbsp;in March 1997 and receiving a&nbsp;Theatre World Award. After appearing in Lincoln Center Theater's&nbsp;A New Brain off Broadway in 1998, she would return to Broadway and originate the role of Sally in the 1999 revival of&nbsp;You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, which led to her winning a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress In A Musical&nbsp;that year, alongside her first Drama Desk Award.

Chenoweth performed in her first Broadway play,&nbsp;Epic Proportions,&nbsp;in the fall of 1999 —&nbsp;and her next Broadway venture would change her life for good. Following a tryout in San Francisco, she would originate the role of Glinda in Wicked&nbsp;in October 2003. She received a 2004 Tony Award nomination for Best Actress In A Musical&nbsp;for her efforts, and the musical went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Since&nbsp;Wicked, Chenoweth has starred in Roundabout Theatre Company's 2006 Broadway revival of&nbsp;The Apple Tree, the 2010 Broadway revival of&nbsp;Promises, Promises, and Roundabout's 2015 Broadway revival of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/reviews/on-the-twentieth-century">On the Twentieth Century</a>, earning another Tony Award nomination and winning a second Drama Desk Award for the latter. In November 2016, she staged her own concert series at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, titled&nbsp;Kristin Chenoweth: My Love Letter to Broadway,&nbsp;and over the course of her career, she has also performed in five Encores! productions at New York City Center:&nbsp;Strike up the Band&nbsp;in 1998,&nbsp;On a Clear Day You Can See Forever&nbsp;in 2000,&nbsp;The Apple Tree&nbsp;in 2005,&nbsp;Stairway to Paradise&nbsp;in 2007, and&nbsp;Music in the Air&nbsp;in 2009.

On television, Chenoweth starred in a semi-autobiographical&nbsp;NBC sitcom named Kristin&nbsp;in 2001 and starred as Marian Paroo in the 2003 television movie The Music Man,&nbsp;but her breakthrough role came in 2004, when she played media consultant Annabeth Schott in The West Wing&nbsp;on NBC.&nbsp;She remained with the series through 2006. Chenoweth's&nbsp;next big role was as Olive Snook in ABC's Pushing Daisies,&nbsp;for which she earned her first Emmy Award nomination in 2008 and won an Emmy in 2009. That same year she would also star as April Rhodes in the musical series Glee&nbsp;on Fox,&nbsp;a role that earned her two further Emmy nominations in 2010 and 2011. Since&nbsp;Glee, her most notable TV credits have included Sit Down, Shut Up&nbsp;on Fox, GCB&nbsp;on ABC, Descendants&nbsp;on the Disney Channel, Trial &amp; Error&nbsp;on NBC, and the role of Velma Von Tussle in NBC's Hairspray Live!&nbsp;in 2016.

Chenoweth has also played roles&nbsp;in a number of films, most notably Bewitched&nbsp;(2005), The Pink Panther&nbsp;(2006), R.V.: Runaway Vacation&nbsp;(2006), Rio 2&nbsp;(2014), The Boy Next Door&nbsp;(2015), The Peanuts Movie&nbsp;(2015), and Disney's Tinker Bell&nbsp;movie franchize.

As a recording artist,&nbsp;she has released a total of seven studio albums: Let Yourself Go&nbsp;in 2001, As I Am&nbsp;in 2005, A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas&nbsp;in 2008, Some Lessons Learned&nbsp;in 2011, Coming Home&nbsp;in 2014, The Art of Elegance&nbsp;in 2016, and For the Girls&nbsp;in 2019. She returned&nbsp;to Broadway in celebration of her seventh album for a limited concert series engagement entitled&nbsp;Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls&nbsp;at the <a href="https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/theatres/nederlander-theatre">Nederlander Theatre</a> from November 8 through November 17, 2019.

There have been moments in the history of musical theater when, like a twister, the sheer talent and whirling spectacle of a production have flattened any negative criticism that stood to get in its way. Take October, 2003 for example. That was the month that <a href="/show/wicked">Wicked </a>opened in New York to generally dour reviews. But since then, more than 8.8 million people have found the heart, nerve and wisdom to pay a visit, resulting in the happy scene of a Broadway house filled with as many teens as adults, and making a tale, born from a 115-year-old children's novel, one of the top five highest grossing shows of all time.The latest incarnation of this impeccably oiled entertainment machine finds a new gear courtesy of a British import. Reprising the role she played on the West End for three years, Rachel Tucker steps in as the green-skinned Elphaba, a.k.a. the Wicked Witch of the West, and nearly blows the roof off the massive Gershwin Theatre with her opening number, "The Wizard and I." As the song reaches its climax, Tucker raises her arms, not especially high, but in a crooked witchly fashion, showing off the kind of smart physicality she brings throughout the evening. Opposite her, as Glinda the Good, Kara Lindsay aces the delicate assignment of being both ditzy blonde and sensitive friend while showing off her clear soprano and great comic chops.Among the show's many happy surprises, Michele Lee turns up, in fine form, as the scheming Madame Morrible, and Arielle Jacobs charms us from a wheelchair as Nessarose, until that unfortunate incident with a falling house. James Lynn Abbott's best moment of choreography comes not from any of the numerous, raucous ensemble pieces, but from a beautifully rendered bit of quiet ballet that arrives unexpectedly during the energetic "Dancing Through Life." And Stephen Schwartz's classic score provides a wonderful playground for the cast to swing upon, while reminding us of this composer's important history. Close your eyes and hear strains of Pippin in "As Long as You're Mine." Find the hint of Godspell playfulness in the staccato beats of "What is this Feeling."The Wikipedia plot summary for Wicked is over 2100 words long, which speaks not only to the show's dedicated fan base, but to the fact that this is a musical with a lot going on. It's a romantic comedy with strong political undertones, an animal rights treatise with a talking goat and flying monkeys, a parable on the pitfalls of getting what you want, a warning on the limits of friendship, and an homage to a classic film. In the realm of mythology, green-hued creatures have never had a simple time of it (see Shrek, Hulk, et al.), and rare is the story, let alone the musical, that is centered on two women who are unrelated, yet have a complex emotional attachment, while still remaining starkly unique individuals. But Eugene Lee's epic scenic design provides the framework to tie everything together. The show is completely set within the machinations of a huge clock, the Clock of the Time Dragon to be precise. And whether or not you are up on your Oz lore, this seems, at first, incongruous with the magical proceedings on stage. Why is Glinda's bubble-mobile so pendulum like? But then the metaphor becomes clearer. "I would do anything to turn back the clock," laments Elphaba, and later she demands, "Wait just a clock tick!" Once a spell is cast, it cannot be undone. 'Wicked' review

The Gershwin Theatre is a breathtakingly stunning Broadway theater located in the heart of New York City. Named in honor of renowned composer George Gershwin and his brother lyricist Ira Gershwin, it was opened in 1972 and currently remains the largest Broadway theater with a capacity of around 1933 seats. Designed by set designer Ralph Alswang, the architectural aesthetics of the theater are a delightful blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Over the years, it has hosted some of the most iconic and award-winning Broadway shows including 'Show Boat', 'Sweeney Todd', and its longest running show, the 'Wicked' that has been playing since 2003. The interior is beautifully adorned with ornate details and offers modern technological features promising a remarkable theatrical experience. In addition to its captivating beauty and grandeur, the theater is also known for exceptional acoustics which enhances the enjoyment of each performance. 

**How to get to the venue**

The Gershwin Theatre is readily accessible by public transport with the closest subway stations being 50th Street on the 1 line and 50th Street on the C and E lines. Several bus lines also serve the area. If you prefer to drive, there are multiple paid parking lots in proximity to the theater. It is situated at 222 W. 51st St., perfectly positioned between Broadway and 8th Ave.

Abraham is best known for his Oscar-winning performance as Antonio Salieri in the film *Amadeus* and Emmy-nominated performances in the TV shows *Homeland* and *The White Lotus*. Additional high-profile film credits include *All the President's Men, Scarface, Star Trek: Insurrection, Inside Llewyn Davis*, and *The Grand Budapest Hotel*.

He is also a prolific stage actor, having appeared in more than a dozen Broadway productions since making his debut in 1968's *The Man in the Glass Booth*.
